Rumson police rule out criminal activity in death

RUMSON – The Rumson Police Department announced on Oct. 17 that it has not found any evidence of criminal activity involved in an incident that left a man dead in a borough home.

According to a statement from the Rumson Police Department, a man was discovered dead in a home on Ridge Road on Oct. 15 after the police received a call requesting a response to the house. The man’s body was discovered by the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team (MOCERT), who were contacted by Rumson police officers. Later that day, the Rumson Police department said in a statement that the scene was no longer active and there was no threat to public safety.

On Oct. 17, the Rumson Police Department posted a second online statement regarding the incident, stating that no gunfire exchange between police and civilian personnel occurred. The incident will be reviewed by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Rumson Police Department, according to a statement.
