Colts Neck

Colts Neck High School remains in pursuit of its first victory of the season, which it hopes to capture at Monroe Township High School on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

The Cougars were shut out on the road by Central Regional High School. 23-0, on Oct. 20 to fall to 0-7 on the season.

Freehold

Freehold High School’s offense exploded when the Colonials beat Marlboro High School, 62-28, on Oct. 21 in Freehold.

Freehold’s exciting quarterback, Ashante Worthy, was a weapon with both his arm and his legs.

The talented Worthy threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns while he kept for 264 yards and and three TDs.

The Colonials, who improved to 4-3, will be the host to Edison High School on Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

Freehold Township

Freehold Township High School hit a wall when it lost to Howell High School, 37-10, on Oct. 20 in Howell.

The defeat was the first of the season for the Patriots, who dropped to 6-1 on the season.

Freehold Township hopes to rebound when it plays home to  East Brunswick High School on Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Manalapan

Manalapan High School remained undefeated after scoring a 56-21 victory at Neptune High School on Oct. 20.

Manalapan’s outstanding tailback, Naim Mayfield, exploded to rush for 313 yards and score five touchdowns in the game.

In a rematch of the Central Jersey, Group 5 state playoff finals a year ago, Manalapan (7-0) will seek revenge when it hosts Piscataway Township High School on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

Piscataway, which defeated Manalapan to win the state sectional title last December, enters this showdown with a 5-1 record.

Manalapan and Piscataway will not clash in the playoffs this year since the Braves remain in Central Jersey, Group 5 while Piscataway moved to the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 field.

Marlboro

Marlboro had no answer for Freehold’s offense when it played the Colonials on Oct. 21 in Freehold.

Marlboro lost the game, 62-28, giving up 467 yards of total offense to Freehold’s fine quarterback, Ashante Worthy.

Marlboro, which fell to 2-5, looks to rebound when it plays home to Toms River High School East on Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

Howell

Howell got back to its winning ways when it beat Freehold Township, 37-10, at home on Oct. 20.

Rebels quarterback Edwin Morales threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Morales also ran for a touchdown. Howell receiver Naseim Brantley received 114 of those yards and had one of the touchdowns.

Howell had lost the previous week to Manalapan, 49-28.

Howell (6-1) visits New Brunswick High School on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

Jackson Liberty

Jackson Liberty High School struggled against Point Pleasant Borough High School at home, losing, 48-7, on Oct. 20.

The Lions gave up five combined touchdowns on the ground to Point Pleasant Borough backs James Fara and Tanner Gordon. The duo also combined to rush for 132 yards against the Lions.

Jackson Liberty (1-6) will head to Pinelands Regional High School in Tuckerton on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

Jackson Memorial

Jackson Memorial High School improved to 5-2 after beating Toms River East, 42-14, on Oct. 20 in Jackson.

The Jaguars visit Old Bridge High School on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
