Flier was not fair to candidate for Senate

Jennifer Beck, career politician, sank to a new low with her recent mailing of a flier claiming that, in the past, Vin Gopal was the “campaign manager” for a candidate involved in money laundering.

As a college student, Vin worked as an intern for a local Democratic Party. He was assigned to various campaigns including that of the candidate in question, and all Vin got was college credit for participation. It is revolting that Beck would portray innocent activity, that of a college internship, as nefarious collaboration with a politician.

Let us not forget that Beck voted against important measures to go along with Gov. Chris Christie’s agenda, an agenda that hurt middle class and working families.

She voted against an override of Christie’s veto of sensible gun control legislation – a bill she co-sponsored and previously voted for. Beck also voted against bills supporting women’s pay equity and healthcare.

She vacillated on a bill allowing desperately needed reforms to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. While initially supporting the bill, she voted against it when Christie opposed it. Beck even co-chaired Christie’s unsuccessful presidential campaign.

We can bring needed change by voting for Vin Gopal for state Senate. Vin advocates for pay equity for women, funding for women’s healthcare, property tax relief via consolidating municipal services, and making college more affordable. He emphasizes that he would vote for a bill only if it is best for his constituents, not to follow the party line.
