Library program will explain geocaching ‘treasure hunt’

With the advent of GPS technology and ubiquitous cell phones, the old-fashioned scavenger hunt has transformed into the growing 21st-century game of geocaching.

Steve Godun and his 10-year-old daughter Jessica of North Brunswick will share their geocaching knowledge in the next Option Green lecture, “Geocaching: A Modern-Day Treasure Hunt,” at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the East Brunswick Library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center, East Brunswick.

The Goduns are active practitioners of the game with hundreds of finds and about a dozen “hides” to their credit. They also are the creators and caretakers of the official 10-cache geotrail at the Plainsboro Preserve in Middlesex County.

The program is free and open to all ages.

The Option Green lecture series is offered by the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission in partnership with the East Brunswick Public Library.
