Patriots upset in Shore Conference girls’ soccer final

Freehold Township High School was delivered its first defeat of the season when it was upset by Wall High School in the finals of the girls’ soccer Shore Conference Tournament.

The top-seeded Patriots came into the game with an 18-0 record, but they were unable to stop Wall’s Jenna Karabin. The senior scored a hat trick for the Crimson Knights, who were the No. 2 seed. Marissa Sciorilli also scored for Wall, while Lauren Karabin and Hailee Reinhardt had assists. Jordan Cheche had three saves in net.

Jasmine Colbert and Jessica Judge scored for Freehold Township, and Meaghan Latona had an assist. Goalkeeper Alessia La Rosa made two saves.

Freehold Township had a bye in the preliminary round of the conference tournament before defeating Point Pleasant Borough High School, 4-0, in the first round, Toms River High School East, 4-2, in the quarterfinals and Jackson Memorial High School, 2-0, in the semifinals.

The Patriots are also the No. 1 seed in the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 4 tournament and were scheduled to play No. 16-seed New Brunswick High School in the first round on Oct. 30.
