Sixth grader honored for achievements on and off the court

NORTH BRUNSWICK – A sixth grader at Linwood Middle School has been honored for his achievements.

Jack Leonard McAdam was named the North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services’ Scholar/Athlete/Artist award recipient for October.

Jack is an Honor Roll student whose favorite subjects are mathematics and physical education, according to a proclamation read in his honor during the Oct. 2 Township Council meeting.

Jack served as Student Council representative for the 2016-17 school year and has received three Peacemaker Awards for his kindness at Arthur M. Judd Elementary School. He earned a part on the Judd School 5th Grade News Team. He participated in the Judd School Chorus and Instrumental Ensemble and earned an Instrumental Music Achievement Award for the trumpet. He has also earned the Physical Education Athletic Award for Outstanding Achievement at Judd for his good sportsmanship and agility, according to the proclamation.

Jack has played baseball and basketball since age four, and for the past three years, his recreation baseball team has won the championship. In 2017, he was the Knights of Columbus Council champion for Free Throw Shooting Excellence in addition to the district champion for Free Throw Shooting Excellence in Basketball.

Jack volunteers as a Special Olympics Soccer Buddy and Basketball Buddy. He also assists the Recreation Basketball Kindergarten League through the Department of Parks and Recreation, according to the proclamation.
