The East Brunswick High School girls’ volleyball team served as the host to Bishop George Ahr High School for its annual DIG PINK charity night.

The event on Oct. 17 raised money for the Side Out Foundation for breast cancer research, according to Helaine Balsamo, the team’s Booster Club president.

In addition to the gym being decorated with pink taped lines, banners, posters and streamers, the girls wore pink uniform tops and shoelaces.

Money was raised from the sale of t-shirts and sweatshirts, a 50/50 raffle, an auction with 25 baskets, food and donations. At least $4,500 was raised as of press time, according to Balsamo.
