Colts Neck

Colts Neck High School closed its season with a 21-0 defeat to Northern Burlington County Regional High School in a regional crossover game on Nov. 9 in Columbus.

The Cougars, which had previously won two straight games, ended their season with a 2-8 record.

Manalapan

Manalapan High School remained undefeated and the team to beat in the Central Jersey, Group 5 state sectional playoffs.

Manalapan tailback Naim Mayfield exploded for 256 yards and five rushing touchdowns to carry the Braves past Perth Amboy High School, 42-0, in the playoff opener on Nov. 10 in Manalapan.

The Braves will be home in the semifinals against rival Freehold Township High School on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. Manalapan defeated Freehold Township, 48-7, on Nov. 3 at Freehold Township.

Marlboro

Marlboro High School concluded its season with a 21-14 defeat at Franklin High School in a regional crossover game on Nov. 9.

Dontrell Alston rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown, while Kyle Moore gained 78 yards on the ground and a touchdown to lead Marlboro.

The Mustangs’ season concludes with a 3-7 record.

Freehold

Quarterback Ashante Worthy will make Freehold High School a major threat to win the Central Jersey, Group 4 state playoffs.

He was at his best in the Colonials’ 51-34 upset over the top seed, Nottingham High School, in the first round on Nov. 10 in Hamilton.

Worthy erupted for 413 rushing yards and scored seven touchdowns, while he also passed for 203 yards. Freehold receiver Matt Krauss ended with seven catches for 110 yards.

The Colonials will travel to Brick Township High School on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. for the semifinals.

Jackson Memorial

Jackson Memorial High School knocked off the No. 2 seed, Brick Memorial High School, in a 22-14 victory on Nov. 10 in the first round of the Central Jersey, Group 4 state playoffs.

Quarterback AJ Tolmachewich threw for two touchdowns and scored on a two-point conversion to lead Jackson Memorial in the game.

The Jaguars travel to Long Branch High School on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. for the semifinals.

Jackson Liberty

Jackson Liberty High School ended its season with a 28-14 victory over Triton Regional High School in a regional crossover game on Nov 9 in Runnemede.

Gannon Wyche caught two touchdown passes from Evan Catron to spark Jackson Liberty, which ends it season at 3-7.
