EDISON — LyondellBasell’s Edison Plant employees, contractors, families and friends spent time working at Kiddie Keep Well Camp located inside Roosevelt Park in celebration of the company’s 18th annual Global Care Day.
More than 65 volunteers painted, landscaped, did woodworking, cleaning and other activities at the camp on Sept. 9.
“For the past 18 years, LyondellBasell has been proud to extend the tradition of working across the world to impact our communities,” said LyondellBasell site manager David Schrutka. “There is a strong desire to invest in the places where we live and operate and this is one of the most important days of the year. Employees help to decide the organizations that we partner with and this day is a demonstration of our ambition to make a tangible difference.”
LyondellBasell is one of the largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies in the world. Workers from 58 manufacturing sites and offices in 23 countries participated in the company’s Global Care Day event.
“Kiddie Keep Well Camp is grateful to partner with LyondellBasell during their Global Care Day event,” said Cindy Robertson, executive director of the camp. “It is wonderful to collaborate with companies like LyondellBasell, who consistently provide an outpouring of service.
Over the past 18 years, LyondellBasell employees and their families have cumulatively donated more than 179,000 volunteer hours toward Global Care Day activities.
“A company that makes giving their time a priority shows a greater commitment to the community,” Robertson said. “Kiddie Keep Well Camp’s mission is to provide a residential camping experience to the underserved children and senior citizens from Middlesex County, which integrate a youth camp, senior and leadership projects, a year-round project and combines educational recreational, and health-focused activities.
