Perform surgery with a robot on Nov. 18

The da Vinci Xi system is the latest in advanced robotic surgical technology. Earlier this year, Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center-Old Bridge added this cutting-edge technology to its surgical suite, opening the Center for Robotic Surgery under the direction of board certified General Surgeon Frederick Sabido, M.D.

People visiting Raritan Bay’s robotic surgery event Nov. 18 will have an opportunity to see the da Vinci Xi in action during a demonstration with Dr. Sabido, have a chance to try out the robot, and test their own unaided “surgical” skills versus the da Vinci robot. The event is being held 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at Brunswick Square Mall (across from JCPenney), 755 Route 18, East Brunswick.

Raritan Bay is also holding a contest to name its robot. Anyone interested in naming the robot should visit www.rbmc.org/hellomynameis to submit an entry. The winning entry will receive an Amazon Echo, powered by Alexa. The contest closes Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. EST. One entry per person. Participants under the age of 18 must have parental consent. Additional terms may apply.

For information about the Center for Robotic Surgery, call 1-800-DOCTORS or visit www.rbmc.org/da-vinci.

Raritan Bay’s robotic system compliments other da Vinci robots at Hackensack Meridian Health locations, including Hackensack University Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center, HackensackUMC Mountainside, and Ocean Medical Center.
