Police charge driver with DWI

JACKSON – A male motorist was charged with driving while intoxicated and other violations after he was found in his vehicle on a recent afternoon.

Jackson police said that at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 5, officers responded to the intersection of Grand Boulevard and Bowman Road to investigate a report of a man who was observed slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle. The report to police indicated the man was in possession of a needle.

Police said the responding officers located a 37-year-old male and subsequently charged him with driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In other incidents reported by police:

• At 11:45 a.m. Nov. 4, officers responded to a residence on Alissa Terrace to investigate a report that a car windshield had been damaged. The investigation revealed that a woman had negligently discharged a firearm in her home and that the ammunition struck and damaged the vehicle’s windshield.

• At 10:45 a.m. Nov. 3, officers were notified of a teenage female who had been reported missing from Bernardsville, Somerset County. Officers checked residences on Montana Drive and Oregon Avenue where the female had been located on previous occasions. Police said the teenager was located at a residence on Valley Road and returned to family members.

• At 2:52 p.m. Nov. 4, a resident of Sequoia Court reported that unknown individuals forced entry through a window of the residence and stole property valued in excess of $700.

• At 12:25 p.m. Nov. 5, officers responded to a residence in Jackson to investigate a report of an unresponsive 38-year old male. The man was found to be deceased and police said he was the victim of an apparent drug overdose. An investigation into the incident is continuing.

• At 1:42 p.m. Nov. 5, officers responded to a residence on Walter Drive to investigate a report of a disturbance. Police said it was reported that during an argument, a man had pushed a woman who was known to him to the ground and assaulted her before taking her cell phone. The 38-year-old male was charged with assault, robbery and theft. He was initially placed in the Ocean County Jail, Toms River.
