MILLTOWN — One Democrat and one Republican will fill the two, three-year seats that were available on the Borough Council in the election.
Democratic newcomer Trina Jensen Mehr garnered the most votes followed by Republican Incumbent Ronald “Ron” Dixon, who will serve his third term, with 1,175 votes to win the seats on Nov. 7.
Newcomer Phil Zambrana, a Democrat, received 1,135 votes and newcomer Stacy D. Sullivan, a Republican, received 1,125 votes in their losing bids for the seats.
Mehr said she was thrilled to be elected to the Milltown Borough Council.
“It will be my honor to serve the residents of Milltown,” she said. “I’m excited for the challenge.”
Mehr said she will work on the issues that concerned most of the people she talked to during the campaign including transparency, accountability and fiscal responsibility.
“I will explore ways to share information to the public in a timely manner via a new website or social media feed,” she said. “I will work to ensure that the Council spends our tax dollars wisely and efficiently and develops plans for needed improvements to our infrastructure.”
During the campaign, Dixon said he is running for another term to ensure there is continued focus on improving the infrastructure of the aging borough while addressing the needs of public employees and volunteers, ensure strict municipal budget guidelines, and ensure the success of the development of the municipal complex to house the borough’s Public Works and Fire Department.
