The Freehold High School football team fell to Long Branch High School, 43-42, in overtime in the Central Jersey, Group 4 state playoff championship game on Dec. 2 at High Point Solutions Stadium at Rutgers University in Piscataway.

Freehold’s sensational senior quarterback, Ashante Worthy, had all six touchdowns for the Colonials, all on the ground, rushing for 279 yards while he threw for 141 yards in the air.

The Colonials would score first in overtime, but after a Long Branch TD, the Green Wave converted on the two-point play to win the title.
