Full-time firefighter hired for Hope Fire Company

UPPER FREEHOLD – A full-time firefighter and driver has been hired to work for the Hope Fire Company No. 1, Route 526, Upper Freehold Township. The fire company is staffed by volunteer firefighters and by paid career firefighters.

The Township Committee recently passed a resolution appointing Kevin Hrudowsky to the position of firefighter and driver. He will be assigned to the Hope Fire Company No. 1, which serves Upper Freehold Township and Allentown.

According to the resolution, Hrudowsky was hired as a per diem firefighter in July and his appointment as a full-time firefighter and driver was made on the recommendation of Township Administrator Dianne Kelly and the acting supervisor of the fire company.

Hrudowsky was appointed to his new position on a probationary basis for a minimum of three months at an annual salary of $34,918.

The appointment of Hrudowsky follows the resignation of another individual the committee previously approved to be hired on a probationary basis as a full-time firefighter and driver.

In other business, the committee passed a resolution appointing Bianca Conn to the part-time position of municipal court violations clerk.

Committee members also passed a resolution authorizing Kelly to hire on call/per diem municipal court security officers when necessary.

According to the resolution, the committee believes it is in the best interest of residents to hire retired police officers to maintain safety and security in the municipal courtroom when court is in session and there is a need to appoint additional personnel as court security officers to substitute on short notice when township court personnel are absent.

Candidates for the position will submit an application demonstrating prior experience adequate to provide court security and Kelly will interview the candidates, according to the resolution.

Finally, the committee passed a resolution authorizing an agreement with Plumsted Township for seasonal salt storage and the subcontracting of Upper Freehold Township Department of Public Works personnel and equipment.

According to the resolution, Upper Freehold will provide seasonal salt storage facilities and subcontract public works personnel and equipment to Plumsted. In turn, Plumsted will compensate Upper Freehold for services rendered at rates established in a rate schedule. The agreement will be effective from Dec. 1, 2017, through Dec. 1, 2018.
