According to district administrators, Tomazic will receive a salary of $169,689 for the 2017-18 school year, $173,083 for 2018-19, $176,544 for 2019-20, $180,075 for 2020-21 and $183,677 for 2021-22.

Tomazic has served as Freehold Borough’s superintendent since 2013.

“I am honored to be given this opportunity to lead our district forward in the years ahead,” he said. “We have made wonderful progress in securing the educational resources we need, but we have much more work left to do in order to fully position our district to be consistent with our collective educational vision.

“With the leadership of our board, the expertise of our excellent staff and the support of our incredible parents and community, I know we will achieve our goals,” Tomazic said. “In the end, our students will be the winners, which will be a delight to us all.”

Board members also approved the contract of Business Administrator Joseph Howe, effective July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018, and passed a resolution rescinding his previous contract. Howe, who has served as business administrator since 2014, will receive a salary of $139,000, according to district administrators.

And, board members passed a resolution approving the terms of a memorandum of agreement with the Freehold Borough Administrators Association for an agreement that will be effective from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2021.

The union represents principals, vice principals, directors and supervisors in the district.

Under the terms of the agreement, according to the resolution, the base salaries of the association will increase by 4.25 percent on July 1, 2018, by 4.25 percent on July 1, 2019 and by 4.25 percent on July 1, 2020.

“The 4.25 percent increase is inclusive of increment, which means that an administrator covered under the agreement will move up to the next step on the salary guide for each year of the agreement,” Howe said.

“The way the association’s guide was designed and agreed upon, it is the case in this instance that each administrator currently covered under the agreement, if they were to remain in their position throughout the course of the contract, would receive a raise of 4.25 percent a year,” he said.

In other business, the board approved Paula’s Bilingual, LLC, of Cliffwood Beach and Bilingual Speech, LLC, of Shrewsbury as bilingual child study team evaluators.

Paula’s Bilingual will provide bilingual social evaluations and receive $390 per evaluation and Bilingual Speech will provide bilingual speech and language evaluations and receive $575 per evaluation, according to the board.

Additionally, the board authorized Howe to enter into a contract with Eastern Datacomm for the upgrade and installation of a building-wide clock and bell system to be integrated with existing proprietary phone and notification systems.

The contract for the system at the Park Avenue Complex, which houses the Park Avenue Elementary School and the Freehold Intermediate School, is $244,077 and the contract for the Freehold Learning Center elementary school is $125,464.
