EDISON — Fourteen Edison Township police officers have been promoted.

Mayor Thomas Lankey, in his capacity as public safety director, made the promotions during a ceremony in the council chambers at the Edison Municipal Complex on Dec. 11.

Six police officers were promoted to the rank of sergeant, four sergeants were promoted to lieutenant, and four lieutenants were promoted to captain.

Police Chief Thomas Bryan recommended the promotions to fill vacancies due to retirements over the past 11 months.
