Marlboro resident serves on transition team

MARLBORO – Bob Salman, a longtime resident of Marlboro, is serving on the transition team of Democratic Governor-elect Phil Murphy.

Salman is a member of the New Jersey Council on Local Mandates and the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. He was named to the transition team of Murphy, who emerged victorious in the Nov. 7 gubernatorial election and will take office as New Jersey’s chief executive on Jan. 16.

Salman is serving on the Transportation and Infrastructure Advisory Committee.

“I am very proud of being named to the transition team,” he said. “I think Governor-elect Murphy has the right proposals for transportation and NJ Transit. They are very meaningful and long overdue.”

Salman served as the inspector general for the New Jersey Department of Transportation from 2002-10. He was appointed to the Council on Local Mandates by Republican Gov. Chris Christie in 2015.

He was elected to the New Jersey Democratic State Committee in 2017 and assisted with Murphy’s successful campaign against Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno.

Joining Salman on the Transportation and Infrastructure Advisory Committee will be Democratic Borough Councilman George Schnurr of Freehold Borough.

Also from Marlboro, Democratic Township Councilman Jeff Cantor will co-chair the Military and Veterans Affairs transition team. Cantor has served in the U.S. Army for more than 30 years and holds the rank of colonel.
