Spencer Matthews of Freehold was one of 22 students whose writing was published in Berks County Living Magazine and BCTV.org this fall. Spencer is studying at Alvernia University, Reading, Pa. Students in professor Sue Guay’s “Interpersonal Communication” course wrote 35 articles for Berks County Living magazine’s Best of Berks section, and submitted 44 citizen journalism articles to BCTV.org

Lisa Gu of Marlboro is traveling during winter break on a Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., mini term. Lisa, a member of the Class of 2019 majoring in computer engineering, is completing the Community Service Mini Term, focusing on disaster relief in the Louisiana Gulf Coast region. Every year, the college offers a variety of mini-terms, three-week programs running during winter break since the school is on the trimester system.

Marissa Levito of Morganville was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest all-discipline collegiate honor society. Marissa was initiated at MCPHS University, Boston.

Sarah Gross of Freehold has been applying the tools of science, education and conservation to become a leader in the conservation community. In mid-December, Gross is expected to conclude her master’s course of study with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in the biological sciences from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, through Project Dragonfly. Since joining the Advanced Inquiry Program master’s in 2015, Gross has taken courses on the web from Miami University while also participating in on-site and field studies at Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo. Gross works as an English teacher at High Technology High School, Lincroft.
