Stephanie Matthews, a certified nursing assistant at The Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center at CentraState, Freehold Township, has recently been honored with the Excellence in Care Award by LeadingAge New Jersey, a statewide association of not-for-profit senior care organizations advancing quality aging services through advocacy, education and fellowship. Matthews, a Manor employee for 20 years, received the award for enhancing the lives of residents living in LeadingAge New Jersey member communities through exceptional care and service and personal commitment and contributions to resident life. Matthews volunteers on the culture change committee that advocates and oversees the quality of life and care improvements for Manor residents.

LADACIN Network has been awarded $14,000 from the Provident Bank Foundation to purchase two SMART boards, allowing adults with disabilities to use technology. The money will fund a SMART board for adults at the Schroth Center in Wanamassa and at the Lehmann Center in Lakewood. The boards will bring accessible, barrier-free technology to clients with limited range of motion and fine motor skills, and allow them the opportunity to access a computer for educational, recreational, vocational and therapeutic purposes.

CentraState’s clinical leader in behavioral health, Lou Silvestri, recently was recognized as a Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Meritorious Instructor by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI). As a 2017 Meritorious Honoree, Silvestri has met five criteria to earn this distinction, including: organization-wide commitment; meaningful learning opportunities for staff; continuity and reinforcement; instructor development; and established expertise. Silvestri, a nonviolent crisis intervention instructor since 2002 and certified in psychiatric/mental health nursing for more than 25 years, was honored on a plaque indentifying those achieving this status at the CPI Hall of Merit at CPI headquarters in Milwaukee.
