METUCHEN — A 53-year-old Spotswood man, who had been employed with the Metuchen Parking Authority for a decade, has been fired after stealing from the parking authority.

Arthur Mohr, who was employed by the parking authority (MPA) since 2007 as a maintenance worker and an enforcement officer, was charged with two counts of theft for allegedly working an extensive amount of time less than he was required as a full-time employee and for stealing US currency coins, which belonged to the MPA, according to a statement released by the parking authority on Dec. 14.

Edmund O’Brien, vice chairman of the MPA, immediately suspended Mohr without pay from his employment with the parking authority after he was arrested and charged by the Metuchen Police Department.

Police Lt. Arthur Flaherty said the department is not releasing any information on the incident at this time.

It was not clear when Mohr was suspended; however, a new enforcement officer started the week of Nov. 13.

At a special parking authority meeting on Dec. 12, members of the MPA board approved the termination of Mohr from his employment with the parking authority.
