CentraState will host community health fair Jan. 6

CentraState Fitness and Wellness Center will host a free community health fair on Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering wellness screenings, fitness classes and demonstrations, family fun and more.

All are invited to attend the event, which will be held at the CentraState Fitness and Wellness Center on the CentraState Healthcare System campus, 901 W. Main St. (Route 537), Freehold Township.

The event marks the 10th anniversary of the fitness and wellness center.

“We are delighted to welcome the community to spend the day with us,” said Gary Reidy, managing partner of CentraState Fitness and Wellness Center. “Everything we have planned for the day is geared toward helping people take better care of themselves.

“We want everyone who attends, even if he or she is not a member, to have a chance to check their blood pressure, ask medical providers questions, take classes and try new exercise techniques. Attendees will also be able to tour the center and find out what we are all about, and it’s all free and family friendly,” Reidy said.

Planned activities include wellness screenings and information provided by the Star and Barry Tobias Health Awareness Center, blood pressure screenings, glucose screenings, balance screenings, flu shots ($25), bone density screenings ($20) and diabetes education.

There will be special appearances and performances by fun characters, local rising stars and former New York Giants player Bart Oates. Other activities include a magic show, Kids in the Kitchen: Healthy Gifts, face painting, classes and demonstrations.

The event will feature healthy food and information displays provided by local businesses and vendors. For more information, call 732-845-9400 or visit centrastatefitness.com
