Irene Waring, who passed away in 2010, used her “artist eye” to see beauty and love in the world. The wife of Robert Olaf Waring, an American diplomat with a 30 year career abroad in Europe and in the Middle East, Irene celebrated the diverse landscapes, its people and its cultures in her art making. Her collages are created from scraps of textured papers and fabric. She “drew” with scissors.

Her four children are also artists. Mickey Waring is a local artist and art director at the Westerhoff School of Visual Arts.

The artwork exhibit includes collages that represent life in the Middle East and will hang in the rotunda until the end of March.
