“Andrew F. Dale has voluntarily served Freehold Borough well for 50 years and these years of service have been marked by exemplary dedication to the best interests of this community,” officials said in the resolution.

Dale served as captain of Engine and Hose Company No. 1 from 1981-82, as chief of the Freehold Fire Department from 1992-94 and as president of the fire department from 2004-06, according to the resolution.

He is a member of the Freehold Fire Department Exempt Association and is a life member of the New Jersey State Fireman’s Relief Association.

Dale was on the committee to design and implement Engine and Hose Company No. 1’s 1998 LaFrance fire apparatus and has been a participant with the fire department’s softball and volleyball teams.

“Andy Dale has served the department, Engine and Hose Company No. 1 and the borough for 50 years,” Mayor Nolan Higgins said. “Andy was a committed firefighter and chief of the department who aggressively responded while always putting the safety of the department’s members and the public first.

“Andy is not only a dedicated firefighter, but has served in many department positions organizing social events and sporting activities for members,” Higgins said. “He is one of those people you could call at any hour and ask for help, knowing he would be there to assist in any way. He has the thanks of our residents and their best wishes.”
