Hogan, Smith re-elected to lead Upper Freehold Regional District Board of Education

Patrica Hogan and Richard Smith will continue to serve as president and vice president, respectively, of the Upper Freehold Regional School District Board of Education during 2018.

The district is comprised of the Newell Elementary School, Stone Bridge Middle School and Allentown High School, and serves school-age residents of Upper Freehold Township and Allentown. Through a send-receive relationship with the Millstone Township K-8 School District, students of high school age in Millstone Township attend Allentown High School.

The school board consists of seven representatives from Upper Freehold – Hogan, Smith, Michele Anthony, Howard Krieger, Tia McLaughlin, Patrick Nolan and Michael Zuppa, and two representatives from Allentown – Lara Michaud and Kurt Wayton.

A representative from the Millstone Township Board of Education sits on the regional board and votes on matters concerning Allentown High School. The Millstone representative is Billy Hanson.

At the board’s annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 3 in Allentown, the three winning candidates from the Nov. 7 election – incumbents Nolan and Wayton and newcomer Zuppa – were sworn in to begin serving three-year terms.

After all of the members were seated, the board held elections for the positions of president and vice president.

Hogan was nominated to serve as president for 2018 and was elected in a unanimous vote. Smith was nominated to serve as president for 2018 and was also elected in a unanimous vote. Both board members held the same positions during 2017.
