FREEHOLD – The Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education has awarded a $10,325 emergency contract for the removal of snow and ice from the district’s facilities.
The board acknowledged that Business Administrator Joseph Howe issued an emergency contract to All Green Lawn and Landscaping for the removal of snow and for ice control at the Park Avenue complex, which houses the Park Avenue Elementary School and the Freehold Intermediate School, and at the Freehold Learning Center elementary school, Dutch Lane Road.
District administrators said the contract for the work at the Park Avenue complex was $3,570 and the contract for the work at the Freehold Learning Center was $6,755, for a total of $10,325.
The emergency contract was issued because, according to district administrators, the accumulation of snow, ice and temperatures necessitated the use of heavy snow clearing services and equipment at the properties to ensure the timely and safe reopening of the schools.
All Green Lawn and Landscaping was awarded the contract after submitting lower responsible bids than the second quote, which was submitted by All Jersey Ponds.
In other business, the board appointed John Brovak as the school safety specialist and Robert Taylor as a substitute temporary security monitor to assist with security and traffic assistance at the Park Avenue complex and at the Freehold Learning Center when needed. Taylor’s position has a rate of $18 per hour.
Board members approved Natasha Perski and Dawn Fetterly as program coordinators for the Title I K-5 extended day program. According to district administrators, Perski and Fetterly will hire and train teachers, develop and maintain staff and class lists, work on schedules, and monitor staff and student attendance.
Perski will serve as the Park Avenue Elementary School program coordinator and Fetterly will serve as the Freehold Learning Center program coordinator.
Each coordinator’s compensation is up to $1,260 and will include up to 36 hours for the program and six hours to plan, prepare and present up to two teacher training days at contractual rate of $30 per hour, according to district administrators.
