HOWELL – Robert Nash has been elected by his fellow members of the Howell Planning Board to serve as the panel’s chairman during 2018. He previously served as vice chairman.

Brian Tannenhaus was elected to serve as vice chairman this year. In addition to serving on the Planning Board, Tannenhaus also serves on Howell’s Green Team, which plans and supports environmental initiatives in the community.

The other members of the board are Mayor Theresa Berger, Police Chief Andrew Kudrick, Deputy Mayor Robert Nicastro, former mayor William Gotto, Nicholas Huszar, Thomas Russo and Paul Schneider. The alternate members are Robert Seaman and Thomas Boyle.

During regular business, the board announced that the Stavola Asphalt Company has withdrawn an application to relocate an existing driveway at 136 Yellowbrook Road. If the company wants to move forward in the future, it will have to resubmit an application and notify nearby property owners of its plan, according to the board.

And, the Howell Family Apartments application was carried to Feb. 15. The applicant seeks to construct 72 affordable housing units (rental apartments) in nine two-story buildings at West Farms and Fort Plains roads.
