The “must have” for anyone who exercises

By Ken Freedman, DC

Are you working out? If so, then a chiropractor is an absolute necessity. Why? Because of a condition that will ruin your workouts and performance. It is termed Vertebral Subluxation Complex, or subluxation, commonly seen in people of all ages. In a subluxation, the spinal bones misalign, irritate the nerves, and most importantly, disrupt energy flow to the muscles and joints. What’s the result? Like a muscle car running on only 5 cylinders instead of all 8, the body doesn’t work right. You can’t lift as much weight. Your leg and arm strength becomes imbalanced. Instead of pushing with equal strength, people with subluxation find they are leading with one leg doing leg presses or one arm doing bench work. If you don’t injure yourself first, you’ll develop imbalanced muscles on an imbalanced frame. Like the car out of alignment and the engine out of tune, it doesn’t perform as well and wears out faster. After all of that hard work and dedication over time, exercising with subluxation will leave you with a distorted body, premature arthritis and limited mobility.

So what do people who exercise need to do? Schedule a chiropractic checkup to detect, locate and correct subluxation. A research study conducted by Drs. Anthony Lauro and Brian Mouch, published in the journal of Chiropractic Research and Clinical Investigation, 1991, indicated chiropractic care might improve athletic performance by as much as 16.7 percent over a two-week period. The report also concluded that subluxation- free athletes have faster reaction times, better coordination, and execute fine movements with improved accuracy and precision, amounting to an overall better athlete. Top athletes whose jobs require they stay and play at peak performance levels know this. Without exaggeration, EVERY athlete that has been under my care—from Olympians to weekend warriors– has reported faster healing and new personal bests regardless of the sport they play.

These famous athletes have the ability to choose any health care in the world, but they have unanimously chosen chiropractic for its health and life enhancing capabilities. They are:

Arnold Schwarzenegger – “Bodybuilders and fitness people have been using, very extensively, chiropractors in order to stay healthy and fit. Whenever I had a little problem with my body, I always ran to one of my dear friends [Franco Columbo, D.C.], he was always right there with the adjustments. This is how I found out the best way of going, is to use chiropractors, not only after injuries, but also before injury. I depend on chiropractic and so does my whole family. That’s what chiropractors do, take care of people like no other kind of healer.” “You chiropractic doctors are really miracle workers, and that’s why it’s really great to have you here, part of the Arnold Classic.”

Michael Jordan – “I don’t know how much I could improve until I started seeing a chiropractor. Since I’ve been in chiropractic, I’ve improved by leaps and bounds both mentally and physically.”

Tom Brady – “Chiropractic just makes you feel so much better. When I walk out of the clinic, I feel like I’m about three inches taller and everything’s in place. And as long as I see the chiropractor, I feel like I’m one step ahead of the game”.

Tiger Woods – “Being a chiropractic patient has helped me immensely…seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis has made me a better golfer. I’ve been going to Chiropractors for as long as I can remember. It’s as important to my training as practicing my swing.”

Dan O’Brien – Decathlon Gold Medalist – “If it were not for Chiropractic, I would not have won the gold medal.” “You obviously can’t compete at your fullest if you’re not in alignment. And your body can’t heal if your back is not in alignment. It was the holistic idea that I liked about chiropractic and that is what track and field is about. Every track and field athlete that that I have ever met has seen a chiropractor at one time or another. In track and field, it is absolutely essential. Chiropractic care is one of the things I think that no one has denied or refuted.”

Joe Montana – One of the most recognizable celebrity/athletes, holder of four Super Bowl rings, three Super Bowl MVP’s and Player of the Year in 1990 agreed to become the spokesperson for Chiropractic in the State of California. “Chiropractic care works for me.” Montana and 35 of his teammates received chiropractic care right before the 1990 Super Bowl.

Evander Holyfield – “I have to have an adjustment before I go into the ring. I do believe in chiropractic. I found that going to a chiropractor three times a week helps my performance. The majority of boxers go to get that edge.”

Teams: Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, Detroit Red Wings.
