Eatontown Toys”R”Us removed from closure list

EATONTOWN – The Toys”R”Us in Eatontown that was initially set to close as the company financially restructures has been removed from the shutdown list.

The location at 137 Route 35 in Eatontown and Babies”R”Us located at 70 Route 36 in Eatontown will remain open, according to Taylor O’Donnell of Toys “R” Us.

“After additional negotiations, Toys“R”Us Eatontown has been removed from our current store closure list. While the list is still not final, over a dozen stores have been removed thus far,” she said.

Initially, 128 stores were expected to close throughout the U.S. from February to mid-April, according to Chairman and CEO David A. Brandon.

Toys”R”Us has been in operation for 70 years out of Wayne, with 1,600 locations open throughout the world. The company “proactively and voluntarily” filed for Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. in September, while the Canadian subsidiary also began proceedings under the companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act, according to information provided by the corporation.
