Forsgate’s Esposito wins national tournament

Frank Esposito Jr., a member of the Teaching Professional staff at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe, captured the 2018 Stroke Play Championship on the Wanamaker Course at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

The victory, which came on Feb. 6, marked his second career title at the PGA Winter Championships event. Esposito finished with a score of 8-under 208.

“I haven’t played this event in years because it’s later in the season and I have usually left Florida by this time,” said Esposito, a native of Old Bridge. “Playing the back tees makes it a different golf course than playing from the senior tees, but it was a nice way to end the Winter Championships.”

“The entire club congratulates Frank on his outstanding play at the PGA Winter Championships and holding off a formidable field of talent to capture the Stroke Play title,” said Chris Schiavone, managing partner of Forsgate Country Club. “He’s a great champion, a talented teacher, and we are fortunate to have Frank on staff here. This win comes on the heels of his victory in the Senior PGA Professional Championship just a few months ago.”

Considered by many to be the best senior golfer based in New Jersey, Esposito has played in PGA TOUR Champions Tour tournaments and competed in the U.S. Open and in two PGA Championships. He also is a five-time New Jersey PGA Player of the Year, a two-time New Jersey State Open Champion and a Senior Club Pro Champion.
