A resident of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick has been charged with attempted murder for an incident against an elderly man.
South Brunswick police responded to a Holder Road home in Kendall Park for a report of an injured elderly male at 8:05 a.m. on Feb. 4. Police found the victim in the residence bleeding from head wounds, according to reports.
Officers located the alleged suspect, a 44-year-old male, also in the residence. The victim was taken by Kendall Park First Aid Squad to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
An investigation determined that the suspect had allegedly punched the victim, struck him with a mason jar, hit him with a stool and attempted to strangle the victim. He was apprehended at the scene and taken to South Brunswick Police Headquarters.
The suspect and victim know each other, but police would not identify the relationship, according to Deputy Chief Jim Ryan.
Municipal Court Judge Spiro Kalambakas issued a warrant charging the suspect with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of weapon and terroristic threats. Majumdar was detained in the Middlesex County adult Correction Center pending his first appearance.
The case was investigated by Officer Sal Fama, Officer Christine Harris, Detective Bryan Sites and Detective Rick Delucia.
