NORTH BRUNSWICK – A U.S. Army veteran is now employed by the North Brunswick Police Department.
Adrian A. Ailey was sworn in as a police officer during the Feb. 5 Township Council meeting.
The township resident graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy on Jan. 17. He had worked as a probation officer for the State of New Jersey Judiciary in New Brunswick. He served a 15-month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Ramapo College.
Before the oath of office, Police Director Ken McCormick mentioned that Ailey started at the police academy on Aug. 29, and then came home Labor Day weekend to get married.
“When I would come home from the academy and things would be tough, she would always be the guiding light throughout that process so I’m thankful for that and I love you for that,” Ailey said to his wife, Rebecca.
He also thanked the police department for giving him the opportunity to serve.
“I don’t want to let you guys down,” he said.
Mayor Francis “Mac” Womack acknowledged the group of police officers who were in attendance for the swearing in.
“You made 2017 a good year,” he said.
