Allentown man faces drug charges following motor vehicle stop

ALLENTOWN – A 29-year-old male resident of Allentown is facing multiple charges relating to the possession of controlled dangerous substances following his arrest in the borough on Feb. 13.

Allentown police reported that at 4 p.m., Patrolman Anthony Rando conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Lakeview Drive in the rear parking lot of 27 S. Main St. Police said Rando stopped the vehicle because the driver did not give a proper turn signal and because the driver was improperly using a wireless electronic device.

Rando approached the driver’s side window, which was open, and asked the driver to provide his license, registration and insurance card.

Police said Rando smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and placed him under arrest. At that time, Lt. Daniel Panckeri arrived at the scene.

A search of the vehicle by Rando and Panckeri uncovered a green vegetative substance suspected to be marijuana; six devices used to inhale or ingest suspected marijuana containing a greenish black residue; four devices used to grind suspected marijuana; two unidentified substances hidden in prescription bottles with patient information missing.

And, 183 Strattera 60mg caps with patient information missing; 12.5 Adderall 20mg with patient information missing; 60 Zoloft 100mg with patient information missing; 57 Vytorin 40mg with patient information missing; 19 Cymbalta 20mg with patient information missing; two Celebrex with patient information missing; 72 Ramipril 5mg with patient information missing.

Also, 19 Crestor 10mg with patient information missing; 19 Citalopram HBR 40mg with patient information missing; 23 Nexium 40mg with patient information missing; 15 Cefadroxil 1mg with patient information missing; 21 Flexofenadine with patient information blacked out; 95 Lupin Lamipril 5mg with patient information blacked out; and one unidentified white oval shaped pill with no markings or identifiers, according to police.

The vehicle was seized and the driver was transported to police headquarters without incident. He was processed and placed in the Monmouth County jail, Freehold.

Police said the driver was charged with 15 counts of possession of certain prescription legend drugs; 18 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia; one count of distributing, possession or dispensing a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) within 500 feet of a
certain public property; one count of manufacturing, dispensing or distributing CDS; one count of possession of CDS under 50 grams.

And, one count of receiving stolen property; one count of distributing or dispensing drug paraphernalia; one count of possession of prescription drugs outside of original container; one count of obtaining CDS by fraud; failure to use a proper turn signal; use of a wireless electronic device while driving; failure to exhibit an insurance card; failure to exhibit a registration card; and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.
