Engineering firm will handle work on Allentown projects

ALLENTOWN – Roberts Engineering Group, which is Allentown’s municipal engineering firm, was awarded contracts totaling $220,100 by the Borough Council during the Feb. 13 meeting of the governing body.

The company will complete multiple tasks, as outlined in the meeting agenda. The largest contract, in the amount of $130,000, will fund the engineering firm’s design of Allentown’s water plant improvement project.

Officials said the funds to be paid to Roberts Engineering will come from bonds the borough has issued in connection with the water plant improvement project.

The council also took the following actions:

• Authorized Roberts Engineering, at a cost of $42,500, to complete the design and permitting for the water tank improvement project;

• Authorized Roberts Engineering, at a cost of $35,000, to complete the design and permitting for the water meter bidding process;

• Authorized Roberts Engineering, at a cost of $6,500, to bid the removal and disposal of liquid sludge from the waste water treatment plant contract (three years);

• Authorized Roberts Engineering, at a cost of $4,900, to complete work required for a water allocation permit;

• Authorized Roberts Engineering, at a cost of $1,200, to provide cost estimates on sanitary sewer infiltration/inflow study recommendations.

All of the contracts with Roberts Engineering were approved by council President Thomas Fritts, Councilwoman Angela Anthony, Councilwoman Johnna Stinemire, Councilman Robert Strovinsky, Councilman Rob Schmitt and Councilman John Elder.
