Jackson police recover marijuana in home

JACKSON – Police officers recovered what was described as a large quantity of marijuana and $20,000 in cash during a search for narcotics at the Prospect Pointe Apartments, South New Prospect Road.

On Feb. 8, Jackson Detective Rob Reiff, Sgt. Michael Grochowski, Police Officer Kevin Kleinknecht, Special Police Officer Thomas Parise, Special Police Officer Douglas Thompson and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit executed a narcotics search warrant, according to police.

Police said one adult male and one juvenile male were arrested. More than 1 pound of a substance believed to be marijuana and more than $20,000 in cash was recovered. The two suspects were processed and released pending court appearances.

In another incident reported by the Jackson Police Department, on Feb. 9, Jackson Police Detective Sgt. Frank Mendez, Detective Alex Bromley from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Lt. Tom Paret of the New Jersey State Police Polygraph Unit and the Lakewood Police Department concluded an investigation into an alleged sexual assault that occurred at a residence in Jackson.

As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old Jackson man was arrested at the Jackson Police Department and charged with first degree aggravated sexual assault, second degree sexual assault and second degree child endangerment.

Police said additional information regarding the incident is being withheld to protect the victim. Following his arrest, the suspect was processed and transported to the Ocean County Jail, Toms River.
