Middlesex County wrestlers will seek a trip to Atlantic City when they compete in the state region tournaments this week.

The top three finishes from each weight class from each of the 32 district tournaments that were completed on Feb. 17 advanced to the regions that start on Feb. 21 at eight sites throughout New Jersey.

Middlesex County wrestlers assemble this week at Region 4, which is at Union High School, and Region 5, which is staged at Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington.

The winners from the opening round on Feb. 21 advance to the quarterfinals on Feb. 23, and then all eight regions wrap up on Feb. 24.

The top four placewinners from each weight class from each region will punch a ticket to the state tournament that will be wrestled March 2-4 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

The top eight finishers in each weight division will earn a state medal on the final day of the tournament.
