In January, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture celebrated its 61st annual breeder awards.
Ariane G., a 4-year-old trotting filly who resides on her trainer Jimmy Takter’s farm in Allentown, had an outstanding year, according to a press release. Ariane G. received dual honors: New Jersey Standardbred of the Year and New Jersey Sire Stakes Horse of the Year.
Fair Winds Farm in the Cream Ridge section of Upper Freehold Township, owned and operated by the Mullen family for more than 30 years, had a successful year at the yearling sales around the country and received the trophy for Breeder of the Year, according to the press release.
Maggi Romano, who resides on a farm in Millstone Township with her husband, one Standardbred race horse, five retired Standardbreds, one dog and 10 cats, was honored for her decades of volunteer work and dedication to the equine community on the state and national levels. Romano received the Governor’s Award for New Jersey Horseperson of the Year, according to the press release.
