FARMINGDALE – Borough school officials are seeking to fill an open seat on the Farmingdale Board of Education.
Board member Carly Immen resigned on Feb. 9 and board members passed a resolution accepting her resignation on Feb. 21.
The board is accepting letters of interest from residents who wish to serve for the remainder of 2018. The final year of the term Immen was serving will be on the election ballot in November.
The person who is appointed to the open seat or any other qualified resident may run to serve the final year of the term previously held by Immen.
Interested individuals may submit a letter of interest to Business Administrator/Board Secretary Karen Minutolo at the Farmingdale Public School office no later than noon March 14.
To serve on a school board, an individual must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen; must be able to read and write; must have been a resident of Farmingdale for at least one year; and must be a registered voter in the school district. Residents who seek the position will be interviewed during a board meeting in March, according to district administrators.
School board members are volunteers and are not paid for their service. The board has five members who are charged with overseeing the operation of the Farmingdale Public School.
