Red Bank administrator honored by Senator and Assemblyman

Stanley Sickels, who served the Borough of Red Bank for more than 38 years, was honored by Senator Vin Gopa (D-Monmouth) and Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling (D-Monmoth).

“I want to start with somebody I know the borough has already honored, but we thought it would be fitting and proper that the state of New Jersey on behalf of Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin recognize Stanley Sickels for nearly 40 years of service to the borough of Red Bank,” Gopal said.

Houghtaling and Gopal presented Sickels, who was the Borough Administrator, with an honorary certificate on Feb. 28 during the Borough Council’s semi-monthly meeting at the municipal building.

“When I started here in June of 1979, I met a young secretary in public works and my first date with her was in October, I proposed in December and we were married the following June. So if there is anybody I can credit for keeping me straight and helping me in this path in serving the borough of Red Bank that would be my wife, Donna,” Sickels said.

In other news, Councilman Erik Yngstrom presented resident Edith Blake with a certificate of celebration in honor of her 100th birthday.

“Blake it is a pleasure and a honor to have you with us again and to have you being part of our community, and the wisdom that you have given to not only your family members, but the grace of your life that you shared with a lot of your neighbors. You are an extraordinary woman and if I only knew what you drank then I’ll start drinking it right away, because I want to get to be 100 also,” Mayor Pasquale Menna said.

Gopal and Houghtaling also presented Blake with an honorary certificate.

“Thank you everybody and I love all of you,” Blake said.

Yngstrom is the council liaison to the borough’s Senior Center.
