The Monmouth County SPCA encourages families of adopted pets to share photos with their rescues in order for the organization to qualify for a $10,000 Petco grant.
To enter, photos are to be submitted to the Petco Foundation’s “Love Changes Everything” campaign, along with the caption ‘Monmouth County SPCA’ and a link to there website.
Deadline to submit is March 25.
Photo submissions can be sent to http://love.petcofoundation.org/.
According to the Petco Foundation, the shelter with the most submissions is eligible for the $10,000 prize. An additional 1,000 pounds of dog/cat food will be presented along with the grant.
“Snap love and show how the love of your adopted pet changes everything,” the website reads.
According to MCSPCA Development Media and Marketing Coordinator Lindsay Sanator, “the possibilities are endless” when asked what winning could mean for the shelter.
“If we do win the contest, there are so many things we can do for our animals. Aside from the essentials such as animal transports, food, medical care and housing, we would love to use the money towards the everyday enrichment of our animals. This is physically and behaviorally crucial to their quality of life in our shelter,” Sanator said.
According to Sanator, in order to enhance the prolonged well-being of the animals, the MCSPCA would plan to use the money towards a number of developmental programs. New socialization areas, an enhanced PA system, upgraded cubby systems for there cat adoption floor, and modifications to there home-like porch areas are a just few areas in which the grant would be applied.
“We would love to have a new socialization area for our puppies to “let loose” in! Sometimes, puppies are too young to use our dog park, so a separate area would be ideal,” Sanator said. “The shelter can be a noisy and stressful place for some animals, so an updated PA system would allow us to play calming music throughout the shelter to help our animals relax. A few modifications to our existing outdoor porch would also allow us to create a zen space where our dogs can take some time to decompress from the stressful day-to-day shelter life. Again, these are just a few of the many things we could do if we won the contest.”
Aside from the $10,000 grant, individual submissions also qualify for daily prizes.
“We’re ecstatic to see the photos pouring in. The support we receive from our community is truly amazing and we’re lucky to have so many like-minded people who believe in our mission,” Sanator said.
