Freehold Borough will host full slate of musical performances

FREEHOLD – Musical performances by a variety of acts will fill the air in Freehold Borough in 2018. Downtown Freehold, the organization that promotes events in the community, has announced the schedule for the spring and summer.

The County Seat Jazz and Blues Street Fest will open the season from noon to 6 p.m. May 6 on West Main Street. The event will feature live music, vendors and food provided by Big Harlie BBQ.

The entertainment schedule for the County Seat Jazz and Blues Street Fest is as follows: the Shady Street Show Band, 12:15-1:15 p.m.; the Chuck Lambert Band, 1:45-2:45 p.m.; the Nat Adderly Jr. Trio, 3:15-4:15 p.m.; and the New Standard featuring Layonne Holmes, 4:45-5:45 p.m.

The Thursdays Rock series at the Monmouth County Hall of Records Plaza will kick off at 7:30 p.m. June 7 with a performance by the Weeklings.

Subsequent weeks will feature performances by the Motor City Revue (June 14), Mission Dance (June 21), Full Throttle (June 28), the Eddie Testa Band (July 5), Turnstyles (July 12), CSN Songs (July 19), the Springsteen Experience (July 26), Soul Project-NOLO (Aug. 2), NRG (Aug. 9), West End Dogs (Aug. 16) and the Joe Baracata Band (Aug. 23).

New this year on Thursday evenings will be a Court Street vendor market before, during and after the performances.

On Sunday evenings, live jazz and blues performances will take place in the Downtown Freehold Gazebo from 7-9 p.m. The jazz and blues series is presented by the Freehold Borough Arts Council. Opening the season on June 3 will be the Chuck Lambert Band.

Subsequent weeks will feature performances by Rouges on the Run (June 10), New Standard featuring Layonne Holmes (June 24), the Vel Johnson Jazz Band (July 1), Gary Wright (July 8), Erez Lirov (July 22), the Jump Back Band (Aug. 5), Poppa John Band (Aug. 12), Bethe Burns and the Legends (Aug. 19) and the Coo Moe Jhee Jazz Band (Aug. 26).

Organizers will announce performers for June 17, July 15 and July 29 at a later date.
