The furniture is being moved and temporarily relocated to accommodate work on a $33 million construction project to expand the district’s three schools: the Freehold Learning Center elementary school, Dutch Lane Road; the Park Avenue Elementary School; and the Freehold Intermediate School.

The Park Avenue Elementary School and the Freehold Intermediate School share the same building at the Park Avenue Complex.

According to the resolution, Simonik Moving and Storage will receive $172,457 for work at the Park Avenue Complex and $52,682 for work at the Freehold Learning Center. There is $7,572 accounted for in other expenses.

In other business, the board passed a resolution acknowledging the issuance of a $3,350 emergency contract to All Green Lawn and Landscaping for the removal of snow and for ice control at the Park Avenue Complex and the Freehold Learning Center following a storm on March 7.

According to the resolution, the emergency contract was issued because the accumulation of snow and ice, and cold temperatures, necessitated increased manpower and machinery at the Park Avenue Complex and the Freehold Learning Center in order to ensure the timely and safe reopening of the district’s schools.

Finally, the board authorized a partnership with the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps unit at Jackson Memorial High School, Jackson. Through the partnership, ROTC cadets will assist pupils in the Freehold Borough 21st Century Program with homework and other activities on a volunteer basis for the remainder of the 2017-18 school year.
