A few months ago, residents of North Brunswick noticed a six-foot tall giraffe in the woods on Farrington Boulevard. No one is clear how the giraffe made it to its new home, nailed to a tree about 50 yards from the street atop a hill. Pictured is Eileen Farina with the guest she has nicknamed Gerry. NORTH BRUNSWICK – A few months ago, residents of North Brunswick noticed a six-foot tall giraffe in the woods on Farrington Boulevard.

The mystery of its appearance has been solved – but not the mystery of its disappearance.

Amanda Guadagnino said her family got the giraffe about eight years ago from a friend who used it in her son’s nursery.

“When we moved into our house we used it for our playroom. On one of the few nice weekends we had this winter we cleaned out our attic and my kids wanted to do something fun with it so my husband and kids decided put it in the woods across from our house. It has been a joy to hear the neighbors talking about it and there have been fun posts on Facebook. The giraffe looks so nice during a snowstorm and was a happy conversation topic for our neighborhood,” said Guadagnino, a township councilwoman and Judd School PTO co-president.

However, this past weekend, the giraffe was stolen.

“[W]e would just like it returned unharmed,” Guadagnino said.
