East Brunswick High School Class of 2011 graduate to be remembered with events in Old Bridge, Philadelphia

The late Emily Fredricks, East Brunswick High School Class of 2011 and pastry chef for Le Cheri’s in Philadelphia was killed cycling to work in November on Spruce Street and 11th Street in Philadelphia.

A bicycle ride/pastry scavenger hunt, the “First Annual Profiteroll,” will start at 9 a.m. April 15 in Philadelphia. The suggested donation is $35.

Riders may start the circuit of locations at any point, riding to designated coffee shops, patisseries, restaurants and bike shops around Philadelphia. At each location, he/she will collect treats and fill out a location scorecard. A post-ride celebration will be held at Johnny Brendas, 1201 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia.

Next, at 11 a.m. April 22, a four-course banquet brunch in tribute to Fredricks will be held at Le Cheri, located in The Art Alliance building, 251 S. 18th St., Philadelphia.

Lastly, the “Make & Take Fundraiser” to benefit the Emily Fredricks Memorial Fund, in partnership with the Philadelphia Bicycle Coalition, will be held at 1 p.m. April 29 at the Old Bridge Elks Lodge, 67 Old Amboy Road, Old Bridge.

Adults can make a 4-inch by 24-inch sign for $30. Children can make a 4-inch by 12-inch sign for $18.

Proceeds from all events benefit the Emily Fredricks Memorial Fund, a special fund set up by her parents in conjunction with the Bicycle Coalition of Philadelphia to replace bikes lost due to crashes, and also to benefit the Philadelphia Bicycle Coalition for safer streets, and the Women Bike PHL.
