East Brunswick man hit and killed by Amtrak train

EAST BRUNSWICK–East Brunswick resident Venugopal Menon, 54, was fatally struck by an Amtrak train, according to NJ Transit Spokesman Jim Smith.

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on April 4, train 643, the Keystone Service traveling west to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, came into contact with an alleged trespasser on the tracks outside the New Brunswick station, according to Amtrak Spokesperson Jason Abrams.

There were no injuries to the 74 passengers on board or to any of the crew, according to Abrams.

The incident is currently being investigated by NJ Transit police, according to Smith.
