Mary’s Place by the Sea to hold Walk-A-Thon in Ocean Grove

Mary’s Place by the Sea will host its 7th annual Walk-A-Thon on May 19 on the corner of Ocean Avenue and Ocean Pathway in Ocean Grove.

Check in will begin at 11 a.m. and the 2.5 mile walk will commence at noon.

Mary’s Place by the Sea, a free respite home for women living with cancer, acts as a quiet place of refuge for those disheartened with the everyday burdens that come along with having cancer. Since opening its doors nine years ago, Mary’s Place by the Sea has helped strengthen over 8,000 women across the country, according to the non-profit organization.

The annual event will feature free food, music and a variety of community health and wellness vendors, according to Mary’s Place by the Sea.

In a statement, Michele Gannon, President and Co-Founder of Mary’s Place by the Sea, encouraged members of the community to take part in a “wonderful” event that strives to honor women who have or had a cancer diagnosis.

“If you are not attending The Royal Wedding on May 19, we invite you to join us for what we are calling, ‘The Royal Walk!’ Our guests are royalty to us. We look forward to this event every year. Seeing the crowd of over 1,000 people is a moving experience,” said Gannon.

Registration is $40 for adults and $25 for children.

All of the proceeds from the event will directly benefit Mary’s Place by the Sea.
