Mosquito Squad of Central Middlesex and Monmouth County has kicked off its “Protect Your Squad” campaign to bring awareness to the importance of mosquito protection and educate consumers on how they can keep themselves and their families protected. For the second year in a row, the brand is hosting its #ProtectMySquad contest, giving away 100 free seasonal mosquito control packages. To enter, participants must post a photo or video of a squad they want to protect to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or the contest landing page using the hashtag #protectmysquad, tagging Mosquito Squad on the respective platform and sharing their ZIP code. The contest is open through May 18. Once entries close, Mosquito Squad will select winners at random and announce them on social media on May 25. For more information, visit protectmysquad.com

Dr. Kenneth Faistl, who is board certified in family medicine and addiction medicine, has opened a new office at 195 Route 9 South, Suite 106, Manalapan. Faistl is a member of Hackensack Meridian Health Medical Group and maintains privileges at Raritan Bay Medical Center. Faistl recently welcomed Susan Gentile, DNP, MSN, APN, to the practice. Gentile is a board certified advanced practice nurse for 23 years who specializes in family medicine and has expertise in addiction medicine. Applewood, a nonprofit continuing care retirement community in Freehold Township, will open the Dementia Memory Care Center, a new Alzheimer’s, dementia and disease memory residence, in August. The specialized care center will serve 11 residents in private rooms with full baths. Services include memory care support by licensed practice nurses, daily meals, snacks and housekeeping. Memory care professionals will help residents engage in daily living activities, manage their health, in partnership with CentraState Medical Center, and enjoy positive social engagement. Applewood residents and CentraState Healthcare System philanthropists John and Audrey Statesir made a generous contribution toward the creation of the new center, in honor of John’s parents, Dorothy and William Statesir.

Rook Coffee has opened in the Colonial Plaza, 331 W. Main St., Freehold Township. Rook Coffee is a specialty coffee company complete with multiple coffee shops, a roastery, cold coffee brewery and an online store. This store will model the look and feel of Rook Coffee’s existing locations, offering to-go service, dedicated text-to-order service and fresh baked goods from Balthazar. Like some other Rook Coffee locations, it will also be offering freshly baked bagels and Rook’s signature, homemade fig butter.
