Freehold Township will provide services to Millstone in shared services deal

Officials in Freehold Township and Millstone Township have authorized a mutual aid agreement for a building inspector/building sub-code official and for fire sub-code official inspections and plan review.

The Township Committee in Freehold Township passed a resolution authorizing the mutual aid agreement on April 10 and the Township Committee in Millstone Township passed a resolution authorizing the agreement on April 18.

Freehold Township will provide building inspector/building sub-code official and fire sub-code official inspections and plan review to Millstone. The resolution passed by each governing body states the agreement will benefit taxpayers in both municipalities.

In other business in Freehold Township on April 10, officials awarded a $468,315 contract for the furnishing and delivery of three new single-axle dump trucks to Hunter Jersey Peterbilt of Millstone, which was the only firm that submitted a bid for the contract, according to the resolution.

And, committee members passed a resolution awarding a $27,180 contract to Municipal Maintenance Company, Cinnaminson, for emergency repairs at the Gully Road Pump Station Pump No. 3. Officials said the pump experienced a catastrophic failure of the upper and lower bearings on the sanitary sewer pump and the repairs were needed immediately due to public health and safety concerns.

Additionally, the committee awarded a $48,200 contract to Bragaton Construction Inc., Linden, for improvements to the Asbury Avenue water tank and improvements to the Stone Hill Road water tank.

Other bids for the project were submitted by Brave Industrial Paint, Long Branch, which bid $75,000, and William Kohl Construction Corp., Middletown, which bid $174,660, according to the resolution. Bragaton Construction was awarded the contract on the recommendation of the township engineer as the lowest bidder.

Finally, committee members authorized an $8,192 contract with County Business Systems, Pennington, for license renewal and hardware and software maintenance services for the township’s document imaging software. The anticipated term of the contract is one year, according to the resolution.
