Our 12th annual Millstone Township stream cleanup held on April 14 was another huge success. Over 50 volunteers helped collect trash throughout the township on a perfect weather day.
The volunteers filled 125 bags containing 1,818 pounds of trash and 1,242 pounds of “bulky waste” was picked up, for a total of over 1.5 tons of debris collected and removed from the township. This is a new record for the total weight of trash collected during the
event!
All those who participated enjoyed the chance to get outside, meet other members of the community and support a common cause. The support from the local Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Phearless Phragmites Phighters with moms and dads is always welcome and appreciated.
A special thanks to William J. Johnson and Jaye Sims from Monmouth County Clean Communities, the Millstone Department of Public Works, and Lori Maher, Millstone Township’s Clean Communities liaison, for their continued support.
The stream cleanup is an annual event sponsored by the Stony Brook and Millstone River Watershed (The Watershed Institute) and will be held next year, early spring, on or about Earth Day. Show your support and come out and join the effort.
