Professionals to help with citizenship applications on May 19

A free Community Citizenship Day Event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on May 19, by appointment only, at Parsons Elementary School, 899 Hollywood St., North Brunswick.

Experienced lawyers and immigration professionals will help complete applications.

Must be a resident of the United States for five years, or three years if married and living with the same citizen; remain in the United States for at least half of the five years or three years prior to the application; be at least 18 years old; and be of good moral character.

Bring a lawful permanent resident card; current and expired passports and a list of trips outside the United States from the past five years; addresses of home, work and school from the past five years; children’s information such as dates of birth and addresses; marital history; any information pertinent to arrests and evidence of fine payments over $500.

Applicants pay a $725 fee to UCSIS, which will not be collected during the event. Applicants who are low income eligible may be able to apply for a waiver.
