The day featured sunny skies and springtime temperatures when the downtown section of  Red Bank turned into a festival of food and drink to accommodate thousands of visitors.

Red Bank served as the host on April 22 when the seventh annual International Beer, Wine and Food Festival was held.

The festival, which was sponsored by the Red Bank RiverCenter and Heineken, featured an international selection of food, vendors and musical performances, including the American rock band, The Nerds, and Metalachi, a metal Mexican mariachi band.

The Red Bank RiverCenter is a non-profit organization that manages the Borough of Red Bank’s Special Improvement District. The district includes Red Bank’s downtown and shopping centers.

“The overall mission of the festival is to make people more aware of what’s available in Red Bank. This is great exposure for a lot of the businesses and restaurants,” said Pati Caldwell, a volunteer at the Red Bank Visitors Center.

The 15,000 visitors were attracted to a community that had once been named the third coolest small town in the United States, according to the Smithsonian Magazine.
